Abstract

Anxiety among adolescents regarding the use of the TikTok app is an increasingly prevalent phenomenon in the digital age, primarily due to the high intensity of interaction on this short-form content platform. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, following the PRISMA guidelines to ensure the objectivity of document selection. The identification process was conducted using the Google Scholar and Garuda databases, with a publication timeframe restricted to the years 2020 to 2026. Of the 180 articles identified in the initial stage, a screening of titles and abstracts was carried out, leaving 80 articles. Subsequently, an in-depth eligibility assessment was conducted on the full texts, resulting in 20 final articles that met all inclusion criteria. The findings of this study revealed several key points: (1) adolescent anxiety is influenced by internal factors such as Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), social comparison, and the need for digital validation, which are exacerbated by peer pressure and TikTok algorithm features such as the For You Page (FYP); (2) anxiety emerges as a response to sustained psychological pressure resulting from exposure to idealised content and the demand to remain constantly connected; and (3) Guidance and Counselling (GC) services play a significant role in designing and implementing interventions to reduce adolescent anxiety. Implications for BK services suggest that effective interventions include individual counselling to enhance self-awareness, group counselling as a means of sharing experiences and providing social support, and self-management techniques to control social media use. Furthermore, a collaborative approach between counsellors, teachers, and parents is a key strategy in supporting. This study concludes that adolescent anxiety regarding the use of TikTok is a complex issue requiring structured, preventive, and context-specific guidance and counselling interventions.
