This research aims to determine the effect of using Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy techniques on increasing emotional regulation of homesick students in boarding schools. This research is motivated by the importance of students having good emotional regulation, especially for students in their first year at boarding schools who experience homesickness. Homesickness is a negative emotional state due to being separated from home which is characterized by longing and strong thoughts about everything related to home accompanied by difficulty adapting to a new environment. Emotion regulation is a way to free yourself from emotional pain. By regulating emotions, students' longing for their hometown will become more positive in dealing with problems in their lives. This research uses a literature study method with a time span of 2009-2022, with literature study researchers can collect various previous relevant research sources on the same topic. Based on the results of the guidelines, it shows that the application of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy techniques has an impact on improving emotional regulation. Thus, it is hoped that Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy can be applied to improve emotional regulation in students who miss their hometown at the boarding school.
