Abstract

Mental health problems among minority groups are still influenced by cultural factors such as values, norms, and beliefs in society. These cultural perspectives often lead to stigma and discrimination, which can make individuals feel isolated, hesitate to seek help, and negatively affect their mental well-being. This study aims to analyze how counseling can help reduce stigma and discrimination toward minority groups in the context of mental health. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach through a literature review of related sources. The results show that culturally sensitive counseling can help individuals better understand themselves, reduce both internal and external stigma, and improve self-acceptance and social support. In addition, counselors also play an important role in educating society to reduce discrimination. Therefore, counseling can be considered an effective way to create a more supportive and inclusive environment for minority groups.
